The London Underground stations have been slowly clearing the layers of accumulated posters from their walls. The strips of colour and fragments of text have inspired this new series of printed paper collages. They are part of my ongoing observation of the marks, patterns and textures found on the surfaces and structures of the built environment. They provide compelling visual clues as to the rituals and habits of modern life and the impact of popular culture on the urban landscape. |
